Three Families to Receive Financial Support from Sims Crane and Construction Angels' WingFest Event

Tragic Accident in Davenport Claims Three Construction Workers' Lives

DAVIE, Fla. (April 14, 2015) - The upcoming Wingfest in Davie, Fla. to benefit Construction Angels has new meaning as families grieve the loss of three utility workers who died April 2 on a jobsite in Lake County. Sims Crane and Construction Angels have dedicated $15,000 to the Georgia men's families, as part of Construction Angels mission to facilitate access to financial services for immediate surviving family members of construction workers who have lost their lives while working on a jobsite.

The three men, working on U.S. Highway 27 in south Lake County, were killed after a two-car crash sent one of the vehicles onto the shoulder, hitting all three victims.

Alligator Ron's Wingfest 2015 is a one-day battle of the best chicken wings and sauces from some of the best local restaurants in town, with celebrity judging, chicken wing competitions and live rock and country bands throughout the day. The event is being held at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds in Davie and benefits Construction Angels, a non-profit whose goals is to increase public awareness about the issues impacting the construction industry and to support grief counselors, safety education and public awareness of work zone hazards such as texting, drunk driving and construction dangers. Proceeds from this year's event will go toward the Georgia families and other construction worker's families who have been impacted by jobsite accidents.

"These guys were in the prime of their lives, just doing their jobs," said Dean Sims II, Sims Crane Vice President of Marketing. "We felt like we needed to earmark some funds to go directly to their families to help ease their burden during these difficult times. Hopefully, the community will come out and enjoy WingFest and know the money they are spending goes to a good cause."
